Before I pulled the trigger on a pair of shoes from the notorious NYC boutique, I found these Bomberos thinking that I'd give the Belgian loafer style shoes a test run. The pricing seemed decent, at least relative to the cost of the NYC boutique. From a distance, the loafers look great. However, when you look much closer, there are MANY issues with the shoes. The little piece of leather that sits on top of the toes is VERY thin, which makes it very easy to see all the pieces of leather it's attached to underneath. It's not a smooth upper. Additionally, perhaps mine is a defect, but there is a thin line (perhaps even a cut) that goes around the perimeter of both the left and right shoe. The insoles are also extremely thin as well. I know the soles themselves are thin, which isn't the issue. But the leather that is used for the insoles, particularly at the front where the toes meet, I can feel every little bump beneath it. It's not smooth. The fit is also a bit odd. I took the advice of others and sized down half. Normally, I wear a solid 9D in most Alden lasts, so I went with an 8.5. The shoes still feel a bit too long. The width is fine, but the shoes area long enough that there is plenty of heel slip happening. I had a lot of these issues when I first got them and wore them around the house. I should have returned them right there and then. However, I thought maybe things would get better after a bit of breaking in, but after 2 days wearing the, I honestly can't wait to take them off my feet.
United StatesEver since I learned about the Belgian loafer a few years ago, I’ve wanted a pair. They were extremely hard to find or at a price I could afford. The cheaper imitations I bought were returned because the vamp was too high, the tongue of the shoe pushed into the top of my foot, etc. I decided to give Bomberos a try after finding out about them a few months ago. After receiving them, they were worth twice the value the second I slipped them on. The shoes are very comfortable, didn’t require any breaking in, the vamp is perfect and the tongue rests on my foot in the perfect place. They fit perfectly with or without socks. I plan to purchase again from Bomberos. Thank you to this company for making a Belgian loafer we can all enjoy.
